Hyper Meeting 2018
Shimotsuma, Ibaraki -- The Hyper Meeting, or Hippi, is an annual automotive festival held Tsukuba Circuit in Ibaraki Japan. The event focuses on tuner and manufacturer product showcases which include demo cars, automotive exhibitions and goods for purchase. It is a collaborative meeting hosted by Hyper Rev magazine and invites drivers, mechanics, and automotive enthusiasts alike to partake in the festivities.
The paddock of Tsukuba’s main track is open for all to peruse and explore. The event itself had a heavy Subaru focus due to the release and announcement of the new line of Subaru Tecnica International tuned vehicles. This includes the BRZ STI Sport and the Levorg STI. Tuners developed demo vehicles accordingly to introduce new products for these vehicles to the world.
Some of the heavy hitters in attendance included; BLITZ, HKS, Prodrive, L’aunsport, RAYS Engineering, BBS, and many more. Others in attendance included the Toyo Tires drift machines, FD3S RX-7s from Panaspeed and Garage FEED, Exedy and local garages from the area. In additional to all of this cutting edge technology and presentation of top-notch research and development, the shakotan stylings of classic Nissan/Datsun machines captivated the crowd.
The various parking lots around the circuit were filled with automove gems. Subaru Impreza WRXs were well-represented from each generation, as well as countless modified BRZs. Many of these cars were openly sporting the very products that were found on display. Local enthusiasts wasted no time in the purchase, installation, and presentation of these high-quality products.
As per the usual, Hippi did not disappoint the thousands in attendance. For example, Prodrive sported a Gran Turismo simulator and rewarded drivers who were able to post competitive times during a virtual Tsukuba Circuit time attack. Hyper Rev gave away prizes via a raffle held. Prominent Japanese auto commentators took the center stage and kept fans engaged. There were photo opportunities aplenty, and this year’s meeting served as an treat for all who have a passion for this lifestyle.
